A typical day in my classroom is loud, energetic, and fast-paced. I teach two high school band courses, music appreciation, yearbook, and co-teach middle school band. My students work extremely hard to come together and develop their musical skills, both as soloists and as part of an ensemble.
My school is a rural Title I school in Oklahoma.
I am currently living my dream of teaching band at my alma mater. The band is known for a long-standing tradition of excellence, and I intend to continue that tradition for many years to come.
My Project
In light of COVID-19, is more now more important than ever to have an adequate amount of instrument accessories and supplies to avoid sharing in the classroom. In a Title I school, we try our hardest to provide as many required items as possible so that money never stops a student from participating in band.
In order to keep our students as safe as possible, we need to make sure they have their own equipment and accessories.
Limiting sharing supplies as often as possible is an easy way to help keep students healthy and safe. These supplies we are requesting will allow our students to have their own materials so they do not have to share anymore.
More than half of students from low‑income households
