This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from varying degrees of socioeconomic status, background, and ethnicity. Most are English Language Learners, but they work tirelessly to understand and comprehend the English language and practicing their new English skills by asking and answering questions, conversing with fellow students, and participating in group work during their small group and intervention time. Our school is a K-8 multi-lingual school and at any given time, you can hear several languages being spoken, such as Amheric, Spanish, Arabic and Somali. It is like our own little village and a home away from home. I am just glad that I get to teach these amazing little humans and give them the support they need as they navigate the English language and the American Dream of being whatever their hearts desire.

The standing desk I have chosen will allow me to teach standing at a desk with all necessary supplies at my fingertips.

This will reduce the wait time as students wait for documents to be pulled up at my kidney table, the only table and desk in our classroom, as there is limited space and room to move in our tiny classroom. This will allow me to be an effective educator while also utilizing the limited space in our classroom and remove the wait time, which causes distractions and behavior problems in my classroom. Our kidney tables has many uses including small group instruction, student conferences, and my teacher desk. I am fortunate that I have amazing administrators who saw the need for tables instead of desks in our classroom and purchased those for my tiny classroom. Now I am only in need of a standing desk to make teaching my tiny humans more effective. Thank you for all you do to help educators like me!
