Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is comprised of over 70% of low-income students comprised of a wide variety of reading comprehension levels. Students frequently cannot afford their own resources but are too embarrassed to let teachers and other support staff know that they cannot acquire the necessary materials to be competitive academically.
A professional atmosphere is invaluable while modeling necessary classroom etiquette for our students, even in a digital atmosphere.
I am endeavoring to create a classroom environment that is organized and professional, in order to be more effective in our new learning environment. Currently, I am using a lap-desk and a small laptop to plan and teach my lessons.
My Project
I have been conducting digital learning in a spare bedroom, using a lap desk. This does not model the academic setting that I am trying to create for all students.
One of the best ways to reach our students is closely tied to what we do as much as what we say.
I am endeavoring to set up a model work area, that although simple, demonstrates that it is possible to create an academic workspace, even in a small area. This will also demonstrate to parents, what we can do.
