I work in a Title I school with some of the most amazing, creative, and hard-working students. More than 60% of my students come from a lower socioeconomic home. Many of my students are ESL, and many more qualify for special education.
I have the best students, and I want to give them the best!
Because of the daily obstacles my students face, some of them find education very challenging. Many come to school without their basic needs being met, so it is hard for them to focus on math, science, or reading. I try to think outside of the box so that my kids are engaged and want to learn.
My Project
Each school year, our class uses a lot of dry erase markers. Sometimes kids lose the markers, forget to put the lid back on, and use them for unintended purposes. We also used them a lot in math and sometimes other subjects to show our thinking. This tends to get very costly and time consuming when needing to switch the markers out.
Students learn math by modeling and showing their thinking.
These LCD writing tablets will give the students a workspace to draw and write out their math tasks. It gives them the freedom to write what they need without worrying about running out of ink. We need enough tablets so each student can have one to use. We would love your support in making this happen for us!
