This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 1st-grade teacher in an urban school district. I am starting my 18th year of teaching. Most of my students come from low-income environments and do not have the means to buy basic school supplies. My students are friendly, loving, and eager to learn.

Due to COVID-19 students are no longer able to share supplies.

These materials will help my students with the supplies they need to be successful on a daily basis.

My Project

This school year is going to look different for students and teachers due to COVID-19. The materials that I have requested will help each student have their own materials for the academic day as they are no longer able to share basic materials. With these materials, I will be able to make my students individual "learning bags".

With these materials, students can participate in individual writing and reading activities as well as large group lessons that take place during the academic day.

If the situation changes and we are not to go back to school, materials can be sent home to continue learning.
