My students need lap trays for when they are working on the rug with me.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Okura's classroom raised $216

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have enthusiastic, energetic first graders who want to learn. These students are curious and always have questions. Many are visual learners who respond better to things they can see.
We are in a neighborhood where education is a priority, but finances tend to be tight.
Parents work very hard to help our school and students in what ever way they can like through volunteering. Most students have access to a smart phone at home, but not a real computer.
My Project
My students would be able to decompose and compose numbers easier if we had a Rekenrek. This tool will give my students a hands on model to see the different parts within a number. This will help my students to manipulate numbers better and to have a strong foundation in number sense that will continue to help them in their future learning.
The lap trays would benefit my students because my students have a habit of lying on the rug when doing their work.
This tray will allow them to sit up straight while taking notes or working with manipulatives. This will save their backs in the long run.
The science books were selected to enrich my science class. The more access my students have to information presented in different manners, the more they can learn and deepen their understanding. I really hope you can help my class.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
