My students need options for seating. After researching flexible seating, I am certain it will help the wide variety of students I teach be successful in the classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is mainly made up of ELL students. In addition to all the hard work these guys put in to mastering the English Language, my school is also the host school for children in the local homeless shelter and women's shelter.
Luckily for me, this diverse little class is full of hard working kids-regardless of their home circumstances!
We were together last year, and I loved them so much I begged my principal to let me "graduate" to 5th grade with them.
Although these children are at many disadvantages, I know that when they are successful, it will be even sweeter than their more advantaged counterparts.
My Project
Flexible seating is fairly new concept in mainstream classrooms, but it has been helping students with behavioral and special needs for years. Flexible seating includes stability balls, stand up desks, floor cushions, and wobble stools. All of these options are a great way to meet the needs of a diverse group of students.
Research shows that students greatly benefit from choices in seating.
Just like adults don't like to be confined to one area, neither do children. In fact, it is even more imperative that young children are given the options to move! I will be the first teacher in my school to use a flexible seating classroom!
