This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember learning how to read as a first grader? My students are emergent readers and I'd like to make it as easy as possible for them.

My 22 students attend a Title I school.

They live in a poverty stricken neighborhood; and, most of them qualify for the free lunch program. This, however, does not hinder their eagerness to learn what is offered to them daily. I have had them for their kindergarten and now first grade years of school. They are such an awesome group of children and it's my pleasure being their teacher. I have seen so much growth in each of them in a short period of time.

My Project

The selected books will provide opportunities that my students have limited access to in their homes. The children will become independent readers and acquire the state required reading guidelines for promotion into the next grade level. Importantly, they will learn how treating others(such as bullying) can have lasting affects. In addition, they will take test through the use of the Accelerated Reading program which records their reading level and comprehension skills.

By being a contributor to this project you will help a very deserving group of young children become better prepared for their future educational requirements.

You will provide the necessary resources for first graders learning to read. Thank you in advance for sharing in my vision of reaching and impacting children.
