My Project
We are also excited to integrate Meta Quest Oculus VR technology into our STEM lessons, allowing students to experience the world of aviation through immersive simulations. With Meta Quest 3, students can engage in realistic, 3D environments, simulating flight scenarios and exploring concepts like lift, thrust, and navigation firsthand, which makes these complex ideas more accessible and memorable.
Two main goals for using Meta Quest is to teach aviation to our 5th and 6th graders include deepening their understanding of aviation mechanics and enhancing spatial awareness and navigation skills-As they interact with virtual cockpits and complete simulation challenges, students will gain insight into how different forces affect flight and how pilots make adjustments mid-flight.
We’ll know they are learning by assessing their ability to articulate key concepts in flight dynamics and by observing their success in completing simulation tasks with increasing accuracy and through their digital portfolios they will create and document in.
Using VR in aviation lessons will give students a dynamic, real-world experience of flight mechanics, letting them explore cockpit controls, simulate takeoffs, and navigate through airspace as if they were real pilots. To share their discoveries, we’ll host a "Flight School" parent engagement event where students will present their findings and showcase their new skills, bringing families into their learning journey.
My students are special because they challenge me to be a better STEM teacher daily. They are motivated to learn as well as they motivate me. The META VR will offer such an experience and experiment that will be breathtaking on games Ultrawing and World Flight which are 2 of many games my students have researched and chosen to integrate with our upcoming unit in physics.
