My Project
I love to use novels to teach my students the components of English and Literacy. The only problem is that we don't have books that are more current for them to read that they can relate to. I want my students to be able to read and connect with the characters in a story. If we only have access to books with white male protagonist how are my students connecting when the majority of them are young African Americans.
I want to show them that there are African American writers and that there are protagonist in novels that they can relate to.
The Hate You Give is just one of the few books that I want to expose my students to and get them to invest in their reading and to make it fun for them as well.
