Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from all different backgrounds, so this makes my classroom a really cool melting pot. I learn about new movies, music, food, and video games every day. Because of them, I always have a smile on my face. I wouldn't trade my students for the world. I taught a lot of my students their 7th grade year and now I get to see them grow into 8th graders aka the "seniors" of middle school.

These middle school students have shown me what it means to be strong.

My students have taught me how to be extremely patient and understanding, how to be kind even when others are not, and how to remember that no matter what is going on in your life, there are people rooting for you. It warms my heart when I receive hugs in the hallways or when they do a little dance when they get an answer right in class.

Even though my students come from what the world would consider a low-income home, they are rich in character and courage. They fight through adversity and push through personal pain to get the education they deserve.

My Project

My students come in every single day asking for food and water. Since the water fountains have been taken out of the school due to Covid, many students go majority of the day without being able to drink.

Also, I'm always hearing about how they don't like the food from the school, so every class period someone is complaining about being hungry.

I can understand how hard it is to concentrate when all you can think about is food.

Lastly, many of students are fidgeters (myself included), so giving them something to squish or fiddle with that's quiet would help with their concentration.
