This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.

I am going back to teaching Pre-K this year.

This year will be very different due to COVID-19. I will serve approximately 15-20 students for the 2020-2021 school year with a wide range of abilities, needs, and concerns. My students are in a low income/high poverty school in which more than 80% of the students receive free or reduced-price meals.

When children have a strong foundation of learning, they are able to stay on track to remain in school, graduate, and pursue post-secondary education and training to successfully transition into adulthood.

Children make my classroom their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. No matter who enters through my classroom doors, they become part of our school family. So this year, I want to make my students as safe as possible in the classroom and provide items to help them during remote learning.

My Project

Due to COVID-19, it is urgent to do what it takes to prevent the spread of germs in the classroom. When the students return to face-to-face instruction, I would like to provide items in the classroom with their health in mind.

I would like sanitizing wipes to clean the tables and other frequently used areas.

Lysol disinfecting spray and cleaners are proven to kill this novel coronavirus.

Toilet bowl cleaners and Fabreeze air fresheners would be used in the restroom to keep the restroom free of germs and smelling good.

The masks will be used by the teacher to teach more efficiently as the students can see the lips move. This is particularly important during phonics.

The hand sanitizers will keep students' hands free of germs along with proper hand washing.
