No Computers, No Technology

My students need 5 computers for our classroom to infuse daily technology use into our lessons each day. Students also need wireless mice(5) so we can learn on-the-go.

My Students

Can you imagine walking into an office building and seeing NO working computers? How about a doctor's office? Or an engineer? Perhaps a government office? Imagine them all with no computers. This is what our classroom is like right now.

My students are amazing!

I teach in a low-income, high-poverty part of southern Louisiana where students have amazing families but are still struggling daily to make ends-meat and to meet the growing needs of today's' society. My class is a true melting pot. The diversity and range of educational background and support is amazing! My students are eager to learn and even more eager to share their knowledge. They've come so far and yet they still have so far to go. The students I am teaching now have never seen the turmoil that Hurricane Katrina brought us by yet they're still feeling the effects. Due to any number of reasons, the technology resources that the school once had are failing. You can be our blessing!

My Project

Students of today's day and age thrive on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematical challenges. Our class is doing well to keep up with S.T.E.M. activities but we have hit a roadblock. We have no working computers in our classroom! It's getting increasingly harder and harder to teach them computer-based skills when we only have 30-minutes a week to work in our schools' computer lab. Did you know that my students' educational future will depend on a computer? By the time my children get to fourth grade, their standardized testing will be completely computer based and we are not ready. I am requesting five laptop computers and mice for your classroom to be used by my students. By helping us to get laptops for a computer center in our class, my children will be exposed DAILY, to computers. We will learn how to type, how to save files, how to email, how to research... the list goes on of all the things we could do if we only had the right equipment.

Technology is so important in our lives right now.

Exposing children to the amazing world that could be opened up in the technological age is a major step in preparing them to be college and career ready. You can be the change that sets us on the right path. You can be the one that puts a computer in the hands of the child who may one day cure cancer, or the child who may one day be the next president.
