My Students
Kindergarten is such an important time in a child's life. In first grade, a teacher will learn if a child will struggle with reading or just absolutely love it.
Teachers are champions of every student that walks through their door.
No matter what the ability or disability might be.
My students are no different. Learning is easy for some and harder and more challenging for others. All of them deserve to have tools and resources that will let them succeed.
My Project
Students come in many different shapes and sizes. Each child needs and deserves his/her own tailored education. No one deserves this basic right more than a child who is on the Autism spectrum.
As educators we cannot let Autism define these kids rather they will define Autism.
I have a couple students in my ICT classroom who are on the spectrum and its my job to enable them to own their disability and move on in spite of it.
This can't happen if they are not comfortable in their setting and have the tools to succeed. They need a place in the classroom to call their own and escape to which is what the bouncy balls are for. On top of that they need an escape outlet from the day which is what the Magna tiles is for.
My classroom is very technology heavy and requires a lot of worksheets as well to be printed out. Some children have trouble working straight from a computer and need a graphic organizer to elevate their quality of work.
