My Project
Students can't focus on learning when they are hungry. The population of homeless students is increasing everyday. I currently have more than 50 students living in cars, tents, and emergency shelters. It is hard to think about learning when you're starving, your stomach is growling, and you have no idea when you'll receive your next meal.
Our school is located in a food desert.
There is only one grocery store in the area and families lack transportation to get there. Not only do they lack transportation, but more importantly, due to unemployment, students and families lack funds to shop for healthy nutritious foods.
With your support, the students would like to create a food pantry. This pantry would be fully stocked with fresh fruit, produce, protein, drinks, and snacks. Having a large capacity refrigerator and freezer will allow our food bank to store items to be available free of charge to students. All students in need will be able to receive food daily, no questions asked. Thank you in advance for your support.
