This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach high school students and if they get into class with their cell phones in their pockets they can never fully focus. It is a constant battle with the mindless scrolling. They can’t retain information and don’t bother to learn the names of their classmates around them. They miss out on the present moment. I am hoping that these items will help me set up a system for catching students at the door and holding their cell phones in a safe space. To encourage compliance with the system students will be able to charge their cell phone and exchange it for a fidget. Some may experience anxiety at first being away from their cell phone for one hour and I am hoping the stress balls help reduce that anxiety.
