Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In a rural area like Yuma, students do not always get the opportunity to get the exciting, rigorous activities available in more populated areas. Yet, within my classroom, we make science a hands-on activity where students get first-hand opportunities to experience real-world science scenarios.

My students thrive and thirst on new educational opportunities that may be otherwise unavailable.

These students are advanced learners who need further challenges to ensure they are getting the most out of their education. With a diverse population, these students get many perspectives and opportunities to learn from one another.

My Project

Starting at a very young age, students become very curious about their body and how it works. However, by adulthood, many people lack the basic understanding of the basic components of the human body and how these work together to ensure the body functions correctly. One of the struggles that we have in understanding the intricacies of the human body is because of the difficulties in showing concrete models of this body. Ensuring students at a young age start to develop an understanding of basic human anatomy and how the various body parts work will allow them higher success in their later academic careers.

By providing students with concrete models of the human anatomy, students will get a more concrete understanding of how these systems operate together.

By providing the human anatomy models, including bones, muscles, and organs, will allow the students to grow a better understanding of these components. Students being able to manipulate body parts that they otherwise would never be able to interact with will allow them to see the integral connections these body parts make.
