My Project
I have had the same collection of stools for the last eight years. The stools are uncomfortable and lack quality. I began my tenure with enough stools, but as stools broke every year, I was informed I couldn’t get any more. This is a problem because I currently don't have nearly enough and I would like to move all my students permanently to the lab stations. There are numerous reasons for the move. Comfort, equity, accessibility, and community, amongst other reasons. I am trying to develop a house system within the class to help students understand team support, competition-driven success, and support of others. The stools support the transition to the lab stations.
The Wheel of Fortune prize wheel is a tool I use to support random seating in the classroom.
It also serves as a component of the house system, providing rewards, engagement, and fun for the students. The random seating arrangement for each quarter is specifically designed to encourage students to interact with their peers outside of their usual social circles, fostering a more inclusive and diverse learning environment.
