My Project

I am hopeful that the items that I have requested can alter engagement, enrichment and motivation on the daily basis. Beginning with the lamps which will allow to not use the normal room lights which are extremely bright, and for sure have a physical effect on students. Amongst my requests there are a number stem related projects like building a remote control car from scratch, using Knex blocks to construct a variety of things like a pulley system or an amusement park rides. These Knex packs are designed for STEM use which applies to me as a Math teacher.

The plan with the STEM products is to make use of them as an enrichment for students who complete their Math lesson with proficiency and time left in the class.

They will work in teams to complete STEM building projects. I have also requested a number of games for a handful reasons, Simon will help with memory, Stratego for memory, strategy, planning, critical thinking and risk assessment. Ironically chess requires similar benefits as Stratego. Uzzle can be used to develop spatial intelligence, cognitive ability and pattern recognition. Twice a month in my 7th grade Math class we like to have what we call fun Friday where we learn and become better problem solvers but away from the books, devices and worksheet. I will use all items (and the others that I have already collected) to create my vision in the room.

The qualities that make my students special is the community my school serves. Our school is one of the most poor in the state. For our kids school is more than just academics. They need the love beyond school the ear beyond academics and a reason to value and desire to attend school when that's not always the culture.
