it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
HELP US MAKE OUR MARK! An art class without the beautiful array of colors that can be achieved with sets of markers is a travesty. Our entire school's students are on free or reduced lunches and I find it very hard to burden the families with buying individual marker sets for each student.
I am the Art specialist in a K-5 Arts school.
We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from Kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.
My Project
Markers are some of the most basic art room supplies. Yet, those basic supplies are vital to a young artist's education. The markers I am requesting will be used by every student at our school. Every student takes art class every day, for the full year. This is a lot of art, and a lot of art means a lot of supplies! My students can reach their full potential as young creative individuals with the help of these markers, and your donation!
