Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my school have this special energy they emit when it comes to being active and challenged in PE and because of this, I try to bring my A game for each class and period. What I love most about my students is their willingness to work together, learn, and participate in Physical Education, whether it be in our lesson activities or doing written work - they are truly amazing and special.
My Project
Over the past few years, soccer in the United States has grown and gained much popularity. With that, the awareness of soccer has grown in our school. With many students coming from South American countries, they light up when we start our soccer unit in class. These materials will make a huge impact and make meaningful connections between our ESL population and general population students. I believe this will help form new friendships, encourage physical activity and also motivate students to try soccer. We have a nice park next to our school that we can use during the warmer months, but unfortunately we do not have any nets or goals for the children. This has made many students approach me and ask if it was possible to get soccer goals for our school.
