As a senior adviser and instructor of our media arts course, I am always thinking about how the seniors will look back on their senior year. Given my school's budget cuts and our students' constant threat of community violence, it is imperative that my students visually demonstrate their academic year and high school graduation accomplishments. In particular, our class will have two goals this year that will create a new way for these seniors to look back at their final year and to hold onto their academic memories. What we need now is a digital camera to make that happen.
We have two goals: The first is to create a CD with pictures of their senior year. This will serve as less expensive alternative to the yearbook, or a great addition to the yearbook. The second goal is to create a web page for the senior class that will include student and staff pictures, important information for senior events, and a message board where we can take polls and communicate with each other.
This is an urban school district with very little money to support ideas like this. We rely on donors like you to help us see our ideas through and maintain our creativity. Senior year is by far the most memorable year in high school. Images that bring back special memories are absolutely priceless. The camera, however, is not!
My students need a digital camera to capture their best moments learning, playing, and participating in class and the school community.
