This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Covid-19 effected my students' ability to collaborate and interact with their peers. As an online school teacher, collaboration is tough to accomplish. Student engagement is also a tough task. Introducing engaging electives was a challenge I felt I needed to make a reality. Introducing gaming development and Esports courses was the top of my list. Through these courses we have expanded our program and have renegades students that otherwise would have dropped off and may have dropped out.
Student success is paramount to every school's mission and gaming courses has been a resounding success for my school.
I was able to get a small budget to purchase the major equipment, but, the smaller things and the touches that make a classroom a truly immersive gaming lab have alluded me. Getting funded for this project will enable my students to be immersed in a gaming environment where they will be able to have the equipment to effectively build and develop games and improve their collaborative efforts in a professional environment.
