This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Do we read when we are done?" My answer is always yes! My students have several opputunites during the day to read. We do this so that by the end of this school year, all my students will be reading on grade-level. I know having magazines in our classroom will help us meet this goal.

My students are a sweet group of kids who really want to learn and be successful.

My group of students consist of mostly ESOL learners and students from a low socioeconomic background. These students really value education. My students value the physical characteristics of our school, even though it is smaller than most. My students have to walk outside of the building to get to some of there extra-curricular classes. My school is a place where students (and parents) want to be.

My Project

With the Time for Kids magazines my students will be able to have their own copy of a magazine. They will be actively engaged in reading non-fiction text that is on grade-level. There is just something about a magazine that makes reading fun! I can only imagine my students excitement for reading non-fiction with these magazines. My students will learn several things with these magazines. First, it will encourage them to practice reading on grade-level. Not only will they be reading on grade level but they will be reading non-fiction text. My students will also be learning meaning information through the use of these magazines.

The donations to this project will improve the excitement for reading non-fiction in my classroom.

Donations will encourage my third graders to pick up a magazine and read. These donations will change my students lives for the better because receiving a magazine or having one to use is not common in their homes. By making a donation to this project you will be impacting a life forever.
