Newcomer's Digital Storytelling

Help me give my students the Digital Storytelling experience. We need green screens and microphones in order to have this experience.

My Students

I teach newly arrived immigrant children from all over the world. They stay with me for their first year in America. They learn through Sheltered English Instruction. I teach every subject, with a heavy emphasis on Language Arts.

My English Language Learners would benefit from learning Digital Storytelling.

It would help them with understanding how stories have a beginning, middle, and an end. Digital Storytelling will help them to communicate their stories. It also is great for learning to work in groups.

My Project

I teach a special class called Newcomers. I have students from around the world who have just moved here from other countries. They don't speak English.

Digital Storytelling is a fabulous way for students, especially English Language Learners, to 'write' stories.

This will help them to understand many different components of story writing. They will work in groups to come up with stories. Using green screens, the students can create stories with backgrounds from wherever their imaginations take them. The microphones are very important to be able to hear what they are trying to say. The tripod will help the photographer to keep their iPad still.
