My Project
Students at my school are mostly from low to moderately low-income homes, making 98% of students eligible for free lunch. Sometimes that free-lunch isn't enough to fuel my scholars for the day and they need a snack to keep them focused in class.
The funding of this project will make a huge difference in my students' learning and focus.
In addition to snacks when they're hungry, incentives are huge in engaging my students. Incentives in class serve as powerful motivators, encouraging active participation, fostering a positive learning atmosphere, and rewarding students for their efforts, ultimately enhancing overall academic performance. Chips, candy and other rewards help to foster a learning environment that is warm and caring.
I have students who come to extended day tutoring solely motivated by the bag of hot chips they get at the end. While a bag of chips may seem small, anything I can offer to my students to help them improve academically is worth it.
Additionally, this project includes solar eclipse glasses so my Earth Science students can safely witness the partial solar eclipse visible from our campus on April 8th!
