My Project

Hello. My name is Ms. Shanell, and I teach Middle School Science in a low-income community. My students are facing tremendous odds from forces beyond their control, yet I remain hopeful that we will overcome them all.

As we prepare for the new school year, we need essential supplies to create an engaging and supportive learning environment to help them rewrite the narrative for their lives.

I will be a new guide in their lives as a new teacher in their school, and as such, I will need the tools necessary for daily assignments and imagery to foster inspiration and critical thinking skills. Our school is a VILS school (Verizon Innovative Learning Schools), so learning for us is heavily device, internet, and presentation driven.

With these supplies, (such as the remote) I'll have the tools needed to engage with the technology and remain mobile to assist the students. Being that our class is a Science lab, I don't have a traditional desk and need a seat that reaches counter height. The posters will serve as a supplemental resource to the curriculum to help the students engage fully in their education and be totally immersed in, and inspired by, the everyday practicality of Science. And the stickers are just fun treats for them to decorate their notebooks and devices with visual reminders of how cool Science is.
