Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title 1 school in San Diego, California. One hundred percent of our students live in poverty and receive free lunch and breakfast. Many nationalities and ethnic backgrounds are represented at our school, but our students are primarily Hispanic, African American and Asian. We also have a large number of refugee students who are brand new to the country.

I haven't met my incoming group of 1st graders quite yet, but I know that they will be excited to start learning!

My Project

These tools will set up my students for a successful school year. The personal whiteboards and erasers will be used during math, word study and interactive writing so that students can participate and show their work for each lesson. The gallon size bags are used to hold students' books both at school and to take home.

In addition to these supplies, the velcro squares, name tags, and book baskets will be used to give my classroom a much needed facelift.

The current book baskets I have are ripped and falling apart. A new, clean set will help to ensure that my classroom libraries are organized and easy for students to choose books out of.
