Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to learn! Every day, they come to school ready to ask questions, explore new ideas, and do their best. Most of our students qualify for free lunch, so families are not able to provide the school with extra financial support.
Kindergartners learn best through hands-on, integrated experiences.
This is especially important for my students who are English Language Learners. They have to master academic concepts and a new language at the same time! It's important that these students have lots of time to practice their new language so they can share what they've learned.
My Project
Due to major cuts in our school budget, we have limited access to new school supplies. Students look forward to entering a fresh classroom, with sharp pencils and new crayons. While we would be able to start the year with last years supplies, it would be a relief to know we can send these home with our students to use over the summer.
New school supplies remind the students how excited we have been for them them to come back to school.
I am asking for crayons, pens, paper, glue, sharpies, bulletin board decorations and office supplies to kick off the new year. This will provide my Kindergarteners with that special first day of school experience.
We will continue using the materials all year! The coloring supplies are so versatile they can be used in art and math. We also use Post It's to mark our books and pens to revise our writing.
