This year, I am so lucky to have my own classroom which I cannot wait to make into one of the most welcoming classrooms that I can. I know that when it comes to learning, having a place where you not only feel comfortable, but safe, is key.
My goal is to to create a warm classroom with everything students may need or items that will help them stay organized and ready to learn!
After being a traveling teacher the last year, going to four different classrooms a day, I have learned the importance of being prepared and having everything you need at a moments notice. I have also realized how difficult it is for students who are always moving about. In my classroom, I want there to be places where students will know they can access what they need. With a craft organizer, that will hold multiple pens and pencils, highlights and index cards, to simple storage units for students to have a routine, and phone chargers to help the students walk away from the devices for a bit. However, I have always wanted a spot where students can grab what they really need, which is what the storage unit would be used for. It would be filled with first aid materials, travel deodorant, floss, feminine products, and even something as simple as ChapStick. By having this, I know that I am letting my students understand that I am there to support them and help them however I can.
