This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at a diverse middle school of sixth through eighth-graders. More than 50% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches, and our students represent many different backgrounds and cultures. We have nearly 100 students who qualify for English as a second language services (ESL), and many more with Spanish as their first language. We recently received a donation of a small library of young adult novels in Spanish, and many students have already read them all!
Please help me provide students with updated novels in Spanish and English to keep their reading interest going in the new year.
I've requested high-interest books in Spanish and a few in English to supplement our current collection, as well as a few teacher resources to help students use these books in their classrooms.
