This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is filled with amazing 4th graders who are excited and ready to learn. They will be ready to start the school year off right and be excited with the prospect of new supplies to help them. My students will love the beginning of the school year, just the way that I, as the teacher, do.

My students are a very diverse group of 4th graders.

Many of them come from homes where a language other than English is spoken. Some of them view school as the only place that they can be themselves, the only place they are really able to spread their wings. They are all wonderful children who are excited to live and learn. However, there are many barriers to their world. My students attend a school that is in a high poverty area. They all receive free lunch and some of them can't afford specific school supplies. In spite of all of this, I have met the most amazing students who give their all to their learning, day after day.

My Project

With the materials requested, my students will be able to do many things! For one, with the notebooks, pencils and post it notes they receive, they will be able to take notes, do any and all work in the classroom and remember important parts of the very limited number of books that we share. All of the students will be able to use markers and colored pencils to decorate their projects and notebooks, and many things around the classroom, to really mark it as theirs. The classroom is their home away from home, and they will be able to feel at home with their own supplies to use at the beginning of the school year. It is important to me that each student in my class receives a planner, as they can begin to gain more responsibility for their education. This will allow them to see that they are in control of their futures and that they are able to be what they want to be.

Every single student being able to have a notebook the first day of class will make their school year that much better.

They will be ready to learn and know that their teacher, and many others, care about them and their education. The folders will help them keep all the papers that they frequently lose. They will be able to be focused on the work at hand, and not if they are not prepared for class. This will help them feel less conscious and more comfortable in their surroundings.
