My Students

Our school is one of the largest Title I public schools in New York City located in Elmhurst, Queens. Our families are deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, my remote Kindergarten class is comprised of both general and special education students. It's been such a challenge for my students to learn at home with limited resources and school supplies they have.

I hope to help my Kindergarten students build the passion for remote learning by providing them with exciting arts and crafts materials to make new projects!

The time that I have with my Kindergarten students is very precious since it is where most of their learning takes place!

My Project

The art supplies I have selected for my project will help increase the level of engagement for my Kindergarten students during remote learning. It's been a long and tough school year and it is always my goal to keep my online lessons engaging and fun! We all know that learning from home is not easy, especially for 5 and 6 year olds!

The best way to keep my lessons fun and engaging for my Kindergarten students is to introduce a new art project each week!

What a great way to start off the New Year with the "create your own" calendar! Students will learn how to fill out the calendar each month by practicing counting and writing numbers. They will also draw a special picture to describe each month. By the end of the school year, they will be so amazed as to how their number writing and drawing has improved month after month!

We will also use the scratch papers and construction papers to use in our weekly projects! We can make just about anything with a little bit of glue, construction paper, and a whole lot of imagination!

Thank you for supporting my project in helping me make learning fun and exciting in Kindergarten!
