This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have very special, very needy students in my ICT class. We are a Title One, funded school. The disabilities affecting some of my students range from speech and language to the autism spectrum. The students' languages consist of mostly Spanish and English.
My students are eager and enthusiastic about learning, although they lack supplies and materials.
My students enjoy interactive lessons and reading by themselves or with a partner. They enjoy engaging lessons and the use of technology in the classroom causes excitement and eagerness to learn.
My Project
Whisper Phones will help increase reading fluency! Reading fluency is crucial to comprehension in primary grades. Students will use the whisper phones to listen to their own voices as they practice whisper reading. The phonics phones funnel students’ voices back to the ear, helping to develop phonemic awareness.
My students also need privacy boards.
Sometimes my students are easily distracted and this can be a challenge because distractions make learning harder. My students need privacy boards to use during all assessments. They help students focus - a critical ingredient for teachers and testing coordinators. They also fold up into thirds for easy storage – ensuring longevity from year to year.
