I teach English as a Second Language students at an inner city school where all of my students qualify for free breakfast and free lunch. Some of them have very limited home experiences and need me to expose them to as many new things as possible.
My students have an amazing love to learn and are so eager to learn new concepts along with learning English.
We complete all of our assignments in English but sometimes my students want to read in their home language. I want to encourage my students to love reading and to read for enjoyment.
My Project
The students I teach are new to the USA and often speak/read no English. This is a great way for students to read in both Spanish and help them learn some words in English.
My students can read in Spanish, so for them to be able to see the words in Spanish and English will be a great way for them to learn new words.
The students get very excited to read books in their home language, but this way they can read books in their home language and also learn English!
