Help me give my students new books for their independent reading project. For example, I know that my students will enjoy the historical fiction, The Nickel Boys, as well as other contemporary books by various authors.

My Students
My students are hard-working and eager to learn. They are compliant and attend school regularly. In fact, we have one of the highest attendance rates in our state!
My students are down-to-earth.
They care about others and are fun to be around. They enjoy having discussions about our readings and these books would complete a set for our AP Language summer reading.
We are a small school with 49% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Our decreasing enrollment has significantly reduced our budget and our just-below-the-50% free/reduced-price status makes us ineligible for more funding. I am certain that my students would appreciate these games. Thank you!
My Project
We all know how important it is to have students read books that they enjoy. In my 18 years of teaching, I've found that this independent reading project is one of the most effective ways to improve students' reading skills, help them gain knowledge on important topics, help them understand other people better, and foster a love of reading.
These books will help my students connect with people that they might otherwise not meet--at least not in our small community.
