This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is my 4th year teaching K-2 in district 75 in the Bronx. Each new year I have found that fastest way to make a child feel part of the classroom is to give them jobs and responsibilities to facilitate pride and ownership in their new "Home away from Home." My students love to help, giving them chores that encourage a neat and organized classroom is a great way to initiate responsibility and belonging to a group. It also facilitates confidence and a sense of accomplishment by completing the task and receiving praise for a job well done. Taking direction and following one and two step directions is also a very difficult and important strategy for my students to learn and practice. Having tasks and jobs in the classroom is an excellent way for my students to incorporate into their daily life
Most important, I find the students and educators in my classroom are more comfortable and work more effectively in a clean and organized environment.
