This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Pre-K students love coming to school to learn and play with their friends. They think our classroom is perfect. They don't see that if we had a few extra materials, we would be able to do so many more things. They are happy with what we have, but I want to give them more.

We are the only Pre-K class at our school and my students are a great bunch of kids.

They are just starting out and they are so excited to come to school every day. As their teacher, I try to maintain that excitement so that they will always love coming to school. Most of them come from very low income homes and have never been in school before entering my class.

My Project

In Pre-K, kids sit on the floor for most of our instructional time. Having a new carpet to sit on would make our classroom so much nicer. A new bookshelf would make our books more visible and inviting for my highly visual students. A new teaching easel would help me present information to my students in a small group setting which is much more effective at their age.

It is so important to maintain a clean, inviting learning environment.

I do all that I can to make sure my class is a pleasant place for my students to spend their day. These materials would go a long way towards helping me achieve that goal.
