Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My School is one of Detroit's public schools jewels. The students are highly motivated, well-behaved, and unique in ethnic composition. They see their fellow students as people, and embrace the precepts of the Constitution of the United States. The care they show for each other, and the bonding, is truly heart warming. This provides for a pleasant atmosphere for learning. The students are eager to begin learning when school starts. They remind me of how hatchlings open their beaks to be fed when an adult bird lands on the nest. Only in this instance, it is the minds of the students that are open.
My Project
There are two saying that are appropriate for this project. One, "A picture is worth a thousand words". The other, "It is better seen than told." For the various subjects being taught is class, a document camera is an essential teaching tool for 5th grade students.
Teaching materials for the classroom are routinely taken from books, magazines, and still photographs that are gathered from libraries or purchased from bookstores.
The students are able to see, thus easily visualize the concepts being taught, and ask pertinent questions. This enhances their level of understanding. This is true regardless of the subject. The students would be at a disadvantage without this essential learning technology tool.
