I am currently teaching 25 very special first graders at an inner city school, in a high poverty area. My students come to school everyday, despite any hardships at home and they are ready to learn and grow!
My job is to supply these students with the most interactive and engaging lessons so they can grow into successful and eager learners.
It is important to me to give each of my students exactly what they need to be successful. This age group needs examples of exemplar work, visual aides, picture cues, and so much more. With a digital interactive camera, these examples can be projected on to the wall for all students to use.
My Project
I am constantly looking to improve our use of technology in the classroom so that they are receiving the best education possible. Our classroom needs an Interactive Document Camera and portable projector cart/shelf. We already have a donated projector to connect it to!
These items will assist my high percentage of English Language Learners and Special Education students with a concrete visual aide.
The majority of first graders require visuals to complete their work and be successful for they are still learning to read and write. I will be able to show videos, small books or pamphlets, student work, exemplary writing pieces, and so much more with this type of camera. We can complete shared writing assignments with ease. Students can project their wonderful work on to the wall giving their classmates a chance to praise each others daily work! We can peer edit our writing pieces and correct math tests as a whole group to maximize learning time. The interactive document camera will also lessen the amount of paper we use in the classroom on daily basis.
