New Seats for a New Year

Help me give my students flexible seating options for a new school year.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Cutter's classroom raised $1,952

My Students

I teach first grade. My students are bright, energetic, and excited about learning. The school is made up of predominantly low-income families. We teach a diverse group of students. I have taught African, African American, White, Korean, Asian and Mexican students.

My students are brilliant and highly motivated.

I love that they give me their all and earn every award and accolade they receive. Coming from low-income homes, my students are faced with a variety of challenges. These challenges are both at home and in the classroom. Many have to play catch up to perform on grade level by the end of the school year. They accept the challenge, however, and together we buckle down and work hard to make our goals by the end of the school year.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting under tables with clip boards, or sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement.
