This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your first day of school? Walking into your new classroom with first day jitters. Looking at all the decorations your teacher has on the walls. Once at your seat, you take out your brand new classroom supplies for the year. The first day of school is an exciting day. But imagine not being prepared with the basic school supplies for this day.

I teach reading to 90 vibrant and zealous fourth graders.

Nearly all of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Having new classroom supplies will help my students be prepared for school each day and it will ease the cost of school supplies for many of the families in my class.

My Project

My students need basic school supplies that will be used on a daily basis throughout the school year. The chart paper will be used for anchor charts or for group presentations. The colored pencils, markers, and card stock will be used for various assignments and projects such as book reports, poetry books, foldables, and science notebooks. The pencil pouches will help keep the students' materials organized. This will also help students stay organized as they transition between groups and classes. The two-pocket folders will be used to organize students' work and handouts.

With these supplies, students will be able to be organized and complete a variety of assignments and projects in all subject areas.

The supplies will also help many of the students in my class whose families are not able to afford it.
