I have a wonderful group of kindergartners who are beginning their journey into reading. My students love to listen to stories when I read them. A great way to support their introduction to reading is to have a listening center so they can listen to stories while they follow along with a book.
My class has 24 kindergarten students who love learning.
They are excited to come to school and love to explore, ask questions, solve problems, and work on projects. At our school, 54% of the students receive free lunch. My students are creative and curious and I want kindergarten to be an amazing experience for them.
My Project
We can use the listening center during our reading workshops or literacy center time. It is great to have the listening center so that students can hear the text, no matter what their reading ability is. During literacy center time, the students can follow along to texts that would otherwise be above their reading level. My children can listen individually or in small groups and then have a discussion about the story.
Kindergarten is often the first time that many students go to school.
I want it to be a joyful experience full of stories that they will remember all their life. You can help me help them.
