Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are ready and excited for learning. They want to learn the most they can during the school year by being able to see specific and concrete examples.
My students are a very diverse group of 4th graders.
Many of them come from homes where a language other than English is spoken. Some of them view school as the only place that they can be themselves, where they are really able to spread their wings. They are all wonderful children who are excited to live and learn. However, there are many barriers to their world. My students attend a school that is in a high poverty area. They all receive free lunch and some of them can't afford specific school supplies. In spite of all of this, I have met the most amazing students who give their all to their learning, day after day.
My Project
With these materials, we can do so many things in the classroom! With the projector and the laptop, we can watch our weekly vocabulary rap videos more than one day a week, as they will be set up in the classroom everyday. We can use the projector and laptop to gain more real life examples of what we are reading about in the classroom, and be able to pull up a picture of a word during vocabulary.
This is especially important to my ELL students who need that extra support in vocabulary. We can use the projector and laptop during reading stations to help the students stay on task and focused while they are working. My students will be able to make power point presentations or prezzies to share with the class about what they are reading! The laptop and the projector will also help cut down on copies, as we will be able to use the projector to see important information, such as tests, quizzes and handouts on specific literacy skills.
This project will help my students gain more experience with technology and also allow them to interact with literacy in many different ways.
It will allow every child a chance to use technology in the right way, by enriching their learning experiences.
