This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In this age of standardized testing, the hardest part of teaching is trying to engage the kids while teaching them the language of "the test". These interactive materials will help to ensure the students are preparing without even knowing it!
My classroom is a buzz of activity, focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere.
My 5th grade class is in a high-need, low income public school, nestled in the heart of Southern California. Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner, who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.
My Project
Making sure my students are equipped to face the realities of standardized testing is a constant challenge in teaching today. I try my hardest to keep them engaged and excited, while still teaching the students the skills they need to be successful. At times, it becomes quite a chore to do this! The requested materials will help to change all of that. The comprehension games and math activities will keep my students attention, while teaching them vital testing skills. They will be learning without even thinking about it!
I strive as a teacher to give my students the best possible education, while still enriching their lives.
This project will help to make sure that each of the kids in my class will walk away thinking about what a great year they had, learning, engaging, growing...and not about all of the testing that they did. They will help to make sure that my students treasure and enjoy education, even in the face of constant testing and pressure.
