New Nonfiction for New Readers

Help me give my students a variety of nonfiction books for the new group of readers in my class.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Peterson's classroom raised $239

My Project

My students are presented with the challenge at the beginning of the year to read 40 books. They are initially shocked and worried about this task. However, what I've found after doing this for so many years is that students end up reading more book in one school year than they ever have before, even if they don't make it to 40. Additionally, as they read 40 books, they are asked to read from a variety of genres.

Nonfiction books are hard to come by in my classroom.

However, so many students love to read about real-world things. To encourage not only to complete the 40 book challenge, but to learn more about the world around them, I am asking for a variety of nonfiction texts. These are at a variety of levels and topics so that all students in my class will have access to nonfiction text. Thank you for supporting the love of reading.
