My students need BoomWhackers to understand pitch/rhythm, perform creatively, and participate in a new music program that lacks instruments!!!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Spitzer's classroom raised $216

My Students
Have you ever heard a child play the BoomWhacker or ever heard of a BoomWhacker at all? These color coded diatonic tubes mesmerize students and teachers alike, and surely contrast our school's collection of cracked maracas, ripped tambourine, drum heads, and tarnished cymbals.
550+ students (general and special education students) in grades K-5 have not had a music program in 3 years.
They come from very diverse backgrounds and countries - from Ghana to Bangladesh, Yemen to Dominican Republic - and speak various languages. Most students come from low-income homes and many live in an inner-city housing project that is adjacent to the school.
My Project
A modern, performance-based music program is being developed at our school, however, there are many challenges to overcome. Without a classroom or designated practice space, these instruments are versatile and essential - BoomWhackers can be used to teach rhythm, pitch, note naming/reading music, and so much more. They are also light-weight and easy to transport from one classroom to another. When played in order, they make the sounds "Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Ti-Do" but can be mixed up to create various familiar/unfamiliar melodies. The requested kit includes four sets of BoomWhackers, which will be enough for an entire class to participate in performances/group activities. If purchased, this will be our school's only whole class set of instruments! We are currently sharing one set of BoomWhackers that I purchased on my own, which allows only 8 students to be involved at a time. Everyone needs a chance to shine, especially when it comes time to perform on the big stage!
Your donations will go toward a motivational, enriching, educational, and most importantly, FUN learning tool for student growth in the area of music.
I have seen, first hand, that every single student, regardless of academic strength/weakness, will excitedly participate in any lesson that involves the resources requested. Thank you for taking the time to read this proposal!!! Your thoughtfulness and consideration is appreciated.
