Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Despite being a Title I school and having a large population of low income, at-risk, and limited English proficient students, our school has managed to maintain itself among the highest performing schools in our large urban school district, and we consistently earn recognition for our accomplishments from the state.
My students are all hardworking, energetic and eager, and they come to class each day ready to learn about how to become better students.
They come to my class eager to learn, they are like sponges.
My Project
I am teaching 1st grade for the first time in many, many years. On top of this we are also going through a pandemic and I am teaching to both in person and virtual students. It has been challenging to juggle both groups and I would like a $100 Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to provide more materials for my 1st graders to use for reading comprehension and for grammar.
Learning virtually has taught us that we have to adjust our method of teaching.
With the gift card I will be able to purchase materials for my students to use both and home and in person.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
