My Students

What? I have to read and write again? That is what I face each day when it comes to reading and writing with my ESL students. They struggle with these subjects, so they don't want to practice them. I need materials that I can use to engage them during class time to be better readers and writers.

My students are all at-risk struggling English as Second Language learners.

They struggle because they are all English as a Second Language students, and they don't always understand the English language. My students are from China, Yemen, Russia, and Mexico. They really try hard when it comes to learning, but they have the language obstacle to overcome. My students face many obstacles during the school day, and anything I can do to improve their skills will benefit them a great deal. They want to learn, but they don't have the materials to practice reading and writing at home.

My Project

My students will be learning many different language strategies and organizational skills with the notebooks, folders, binders, pencils, and pens. My students will be able to learn how important it is for them to become organized and have the correct materials to be successful in school. The notebooks, pencils, and folders will provide the students with places to store and organize their homework. The students are also in need of these basic classroom materials in order to be successful throughout the school year. As the students learn different reading strategies, we will be creating a reading log book for the students to continue to add to throughout the school year. You will be enhancing our curriculum a great deal for these ESL students.
