My classroom is located in a high needs area of New York. Many of my students are from low income families and are recent immigrants to the US. Most of my students will be the first in their families to go on to college or even the first to graduate from high school. This year, we are offering journalism as an elective course to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders to learn about news writing and publish the school newspaper.
However, we don't have the technology to help us get this project off the ground. Our school does not have a computer lab and we need these HP laptops to help us get started.
These HP laptops will provide my students with the opportunity to research and type their newspaper articles. In addition, they will be able to layout the newspaper and actually get it ready to be published.
Without these new HP laptops, we will not be able to successfully publish our school newspaper and my students will not reap the benefits of having a school newspaper. Please help us by funding this grant and providing us with much needed technology.
